Description
This took me a very long time to finish...
I first wanted to draw/paint all the scales, but then I realized just how many scales a Psittacosaurus has (when I had finished about 1/3 of the scales) and went for a more simple look instead.
Info on Psittacosaurus mongoliensis
Taxonomy: Dinosauria - Ornithischia - Marginocephalia - Ceratopsia - Psittacosauridae
Length: About 2 m
Weight: About 20 kg
this dinosaur was an early Ceratopsian, the same clade to which the famous Triceratops belonged. It lived earlier though (Early cretaceous) and was much smaller. Finds have revealed that Psittacosaurus was almost entirely covered in scales, apart from some quill-like structures on its tail.
Psittacosaurus was a herbivore and was likely preyed upon by different theropods. Also, the early mammal Repenomamus has been found with bones of a young Psittacosaurus in its stomach.
